Learn to Ski or Snowboard
…or Improve Your Skills…FOR FREE!
Come out and experience the “learn to ski” program that promotes safe enjoyment of skiing and provides newcomers an inexpensive way to learn the sport. Instructors are also members of EPSC clubs, are certified ASIA or PSIA instructors, and they volunteer their time to teach you.
Dust off your skis, grab your boots, warm parka and step away from the TV! Skill levels range from those who have never skied to those making open parallel turns, and skiers are grouped into classes based on ability levels. So even “terminal intermediates”, can benefit from these lessons! Over the course of six Monday nights, students progress in a structured curriculum, building skills and confidence from week to week.
Instructors are certified Amateur Ski Instructors and are members of Eastern Pennsylvania Ski clubs. Some instructors are certified professional ski instructors as well. The program ranges in skill level from never-ever skiers through those more advanced making open parallel turns. Skiers are grouped into classes based on their ability level. Over six weeks, students progress within a structured curriculum, building skills and confidence from week to week. The popularity of the program has grown steadily over the last several years because of the high quality of our instructors.
To participate, you must be a KOPSC member and your current club membership card will be verified. Participants will sign in at the registration table in the front lobby prior to each lesson. Lessons are held at Spring Mountain, 757 Spring Mount Rd., Schwenksville, PA 19473, and begin on the first Monday night after New Year’s starting at 6:30 PM, which this season is January 3, 2011.
NOTE: A similar program for snowboarding will be initiated if enough snowboard instructors volunteer! If you have any questions email me at compann at comcast dot net or call me at 610-888-2575.
The registration table will be located just inside the front door of the lodge and will be open at 5 PM. Lift tickets and rentals are offered at a discount (cost to be determined); however, the lessons are FREE! Minimum age is 15 years. Never-ever skiers are not accepted after the second week. Instructor Training
Are you ready for your next challenge? Learn to teach skiing or snowboarding! Weekend classes are offered at several nearby mountains, and in exchange for volunteering at the Monday night program, the club will reimburse half of your tuition. Past participants found that the classes improved their skills and opened up the joy of teaching a great sport to others.
